Though the Internet is engendering economic success stories all around the world, the highest concentration of them occurs in the United States. The American College of Sports Medicine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that people accumulate at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity on most days of the week. However, data from the National Weight Control Registry and Schoeller and colleagues suggest that people who successfully maintain their weight loss actually do more physical activity—at least 60 minutes per day (American Journal of Physiology 1986; 250:R823–R830).
Therefore, to lose and maintain weight loss, 30–60 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity should be done every day. Although this sounds like a lot of activity, you can accumulate this activity throughout the day with short bouts of activity (e.g., taking several short walks during the day). In addition, you can gradually increase your activity to meet this goal.
A study by Jakicic and colleagues at Miriam Hospital, Brown University School of Medicine, showed that the overweight women who completed 40 minutes of walking in 10-minute bouts lost as much weight as women who completed all their walking in one 40-minute bout (Journal of the American Medical Association 1999; 282:1554–1560). This is important to understand, particularly in today’s fast-paced world. Many people find it easier to complete six 10-minute walks during the day than to set aside 60 minutes all at once. Let’s now look at some strategies that can help you increase your physical activity.
What Makes a sport extreme? Is it danger? Thrills? Gear? The name?
What makes a sport into an extreme sport? Do risk, thrills, and a name add up to make something into an extreme sport?
None of these make a sport extreme, you can ski or you can extreme ski. The key to extreme is in the limits. When you push your own limits, when you do something you have never done before, then you are being extreme. Everyone has different limits, if you are willing to test your boundaries and go beyond you limits, then extreme sports are for you.

I’m often times convinced that the FIA’s credo for F1 is “Destroying the sport, one circuit at a time.”
We already have total garbage on the F1 calendar. Abominations like France, Hungary and Spain. Well, chalk up another victim. Yes folks, another circuit has fallen prey to the butchers knife.
Hockenheim was one of the few great circuits remaining on the calendar. A circuit with class. High speed, low downforce. A car killer. A chance to see F1 cars at full tilt for a good part of the lap. F1 as it should be. Well, say goodnight Gracie, because it’s all over.
